TRIP ITINERARY
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore 
Three-day Sea Kayak Trip
(Due to weather conditions or group ability this trip may go to Grand Island)
 
GENERAL PADDLING ITINERARY:
  • Miner's Castle Beach -> Mosquito River -> Grand Portal -> Chapel Rock -> Spray Falls (optional) -> return to Miner's Castle Beach.
DAY ONE 9 A.M. (Eastern Standard Time)
  • All participants rendezvous at Northern Waters store in Munising, MI adjacent to the city boat launch. Take M-28 to Munising's west side, turn north to Bayview Street and go 2 blocks straight to the lake.
  • Discuss itinerary, weather and clothing needs.
  • Drive to Miner's Beach.
  • Familiarize and adjust equipment.
  • Practice on water paddling and rescue techniques.
  • Lunch and pack kayaks.
  • Paddle along and explore colorful cliffs, caves, waterfall, etc.
  • Camp at Mosquito River.
DAY TWO
  • Paddle through Lover's Leap Arch.
  • Paddle along cliffs and through Grand Portal Arch.
  • Lunch at Chapel Beach.
  • Explore Chapel Beach area.
  • Optionally paddle to Spray Falls or hike to Chapel Falls.
  • Return paddle to Mosquito River.
DAY THREE
  • Return paddle to Miner's Beach along towering cliffs.
  • Explore Miner's Castle.
